Welcome to the website for RMDavison Pipes. I am Bob Davison - Pipe Smoker; PAD Afflicted; Pipe Collector; Pipe Maker; living in Burnsville, MN.

I have been making pipes since 2009. I am not a world-class pipemaker, but I do make pipes that smoke well and look great. I believe that my pipes offer you an affordable entry into the world of one-of-a-kind pipes.

• My pipes are made from briar that I purchase from Italy.
• I use pre-molded acrylic or vulcanite stems that are then shaped for the individual pipe. I have also begun to make handcut stems depending upon the desire of the customer.
• Tobacco chambers are usually 3/4 inch (bigger on request).
• I use alcohol-based stains.
• I avoid fills (unless indicated in the pipe description).
• NOW AVAILABLE - If you wish, I can apply a pre-carbon coating to your bowl. Because of the many opinions on the value of pre-carbon treatment, bowls are left "un-coated" unless you request the coating.

I target my pipe prices based upon two factors - the quality of the briar block, and the finish:

• Rusticated Pipes - $65
• Sandblasted - $85
• "Normal" grade block, smooth finish - $85
• "Super" grade block, smooth finish - $115

The final price may be adjusted around the "target" price because of a number of issues, i.e. - flaws, unexpected grain patterns (good or bad), or a "missed" style target.

The medical term for the acronym TAD is "Tobacco Acquisition Disorder." This is a somewhat benign affliction that causes the victim to always feel as if he or she needs "that" extra pound or so of tobacco. The outward manifestation of the disorder is the constant procurement of tobacco. This disorder can oftentimes be dormant for years, with the victim displaying initial symptoms at the first sign of a new government tobacco tax or restriction. This disorder is closely related to PAD

At the top of this page, I mentioned that I am a pipe smoker; I suffer from PAD; I collect pipes; and I am a pipe maker. The order here is important because it reflects my metamorphosis within the pipe hobby. The current (last?) stage of the hobby has led to the creation of this website - an outward venue from which I can share my pipe creations.

I started making pipes, as most do, with a pre-drilled "kit." I enjoyed the experience immensely and was shortly back on the web ordering supplies to make more pipes... but I would be doing my own drilling and stem fitting. Many pipes later, I am still enjoying the process, but I am running out of places to store my hoard. This is where the website comes in. I need a place to facilitate the distribution of my handiwork.
